| | overwhelmed | ] | I am getting nicely settled in my new flat. I now have two small red sofas with oriental patterning which makes the living room opulant and cosy. Once all my stuff had arrived, the flat strangely seemed bigger than it had before when I was worrying it might be too poky. It could be my lack of spatial awareness but also I think the heavey curtains which were drawn across made the rooms seem small and closed in. There are still boxes of books everywhere as to be expected. Currently I am trying to get 2 assignments done this evening for tomorrows' deadline. I also started teaching last week which is scary but good. The students are very nice and only 4 or 5 at a time seem to turn up from week to week. This can be slightly bizzarre when the composition of the group seems quite different from one week to the next. Many of them drift off as they find jobs. There is one poor bloke who comes to class having worked all night in a care home. The main thing I need to work on I think is fine-tuning my plans and timing. I have also discovered that students will wickedly nod when asked if they have understood instructions when in fact they haven't a clue. Next week is the last week of term and there will be food and carol singing (but nothing too religious). Then I will have a chance to draw breath and take everything in. |

your sofas sound gorgeous!
I'm pleased with them. I was taking a bit of a risk because my mum had seen them in a shop in Blackpool after I had moved and asked if I wanted them as they were a bargain so I had to make the decision to take them based only on her rather vague description. I'm glad I did. | |
